Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Hip-Hop Artists
In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, weβre recognizing the contributions of influential artists who have paved the way for authentic cultural representation within Hip-Hop. This community of MCβs, DJβs, Graffiti Writers and Breakers is often missing from conversations about pioneers of Hip-Hop Culture. Like the disenfranchised African-American and Puerto Rican youth who started Hip-Hop, AAPI Hip-Hop artists have successfully used their art to uplift and reflect the experiences of their marginalized communities; adopting the themes of liberation and empowerment to give voice to their unique struggles.
